Dilemma or Bigamy?

Can anyone suggest a better name for the tendency detested as dilemma? To me, it sometimes feels like enjoying bigamy. How is it that you are not able to come out of it? Simply, reluctance on your part. Otherwise, you must divorce one.

Why do people not respond to things they come across?
Do they forget things?
Do they deliberately avoid things?
Do they tend to ignore things?
Are they self sufficient?
Do they really need to or ought to respond?
How can they be lured to respond to things?

Practicum Session Sept.4

Today, I used barrier games for teaching speaking. My objectives were to help ss interact about the similarities and differences in the given two pictures and speak 2-3 sentences showing similarities and differences. I gave one picture to one student and second to the other. One was asked to describe the details in the picture.The other responded with yes or no answers with affirmative and negative statements. They were able to spot through description 3 differences in the two pictures . Being asked to see both the pictures, they could spot all the 10 differences. Then, they came out with 3 sentences each showing dissimilarities and similarities.
My objectives were achieved. I have to reduce my anxiety or consciosness to the presence of the peer group or the observer. Some detouring in my plan might have tured me conscious.

Teaching Listening Practicum Sept.2

I took an audio clip from VIO Special English for Teaching Listening. Objectives stipulated were as follows:
By the end of this session, after listening to an audio clip, you should be able to-
* tell the main idea/ gist of the clip
* answer orally 5 - 8 questions containing specific information
After giving the purposes of listening and explaining the difference between hearing and listening, I played the audio clip for the ss and asked them to look for the main idea in the clip. The ss , after first hearing, came out with two words - American education, clearly hinting at the gist. Being instrctuted to look for specific information for answering the eight questions in the distributed handout, they were given the second hearing to the clip. I inquired about whether they could find the specific information. Then I played the audio for the third time asking them to ascertain finding the answers to the questionaire. They were able to answer 6- 7 questions correctly. I think, my objectives were achieved. Response of the ss was quite satisfying to me.
I could have told sth about VOA Special English and used brainstorming. My stress management is to be strengthened.

Practicum Session Teaching Writing Aug.30

I used webbing for getting students write 15- 20 adjectives to express their liking and disliking for the different types of seasons with a plan to use them in a diamante poem. I gave them the desired space for the activity. One pair of ss came out with a beautiful poem on Spring and Autumn. Another student came out with a marvellous poem of original shape on Spring. It was really useful and satifying activity for both ends.

Self Assessment Aug.28 Practicum Session

My presentation was well planned but lacked a bit on time management. I could have explained the strategy involved in my lesson a little more.Time chunk compelled me to restrain from giving more time to ss for responding.
